Then we went big bookshop to LSLS. wow... v long neva shop in such a bkshop and it still fascinates me. pretty but useless stationery, cheap but small sch bags... den, went home, punggol home. ate instant mee (cos i miss eating instant mee) and slept. woke up by mum coming home, had dinner den her soup. supposedly to fight heatiness. den, watch tv and sleep.

NZ Trilogy: The Return of Almighty zenov
Finally back from the trip, tho it din quite end w a bang. After Fox Glacier was a series of coach rides dat lasted more than 2 hrs between each comfort/photo stops. More plopped-in-the-middle-of-nowhere towns and mountain passes dat we passed w/o even realizing.
ok... my impression was dat mountain passes were at least the saddle in a mountain ridge; and my impression of mountain ridges were quite stuck w kent ridge. i tot passes would b v visible, juz like walking thru a door. unfortunately, s'pore's versions of things were always much smaller than the 'world standard', so the door was so much larger dat i literally can't c the door as previously conceived. =P
stopped at Haast Pass, which was quite 'conceivable' considering dat it was represented by a truss bridge. i tot i took some footage of it. but review tells me no... cos the bridge was obscured by the blinding daylight (some viewcam settings).
then another stop at Springfield, where we had ice-cream again... in the midst of freezing cold weather. but we enjoyed dat tho, cos the ice-cream lasts quite some time... it din melt as quickly as it did back at home!!!
40 min later, was at Regency Duty Free at Christchurch (yes! we're back!!). then ruched to Willowbank for the Maori Cultural Show-cum-Dinner.
was quite impressed at their singing... which was v well co-ordinated, tho the video din quite catch the essence. if u were present, u'd haf felt the diff.
then went to c the kiwi, which was a nocturnal bird. so the viewcam was only able to capture the bird using nightshoot, which meant no full colours... =(
slept over at the Elms (our 1st hotel) and set off early in the morning to catch the 7.40am domestic flight to Auckland.
Then we shopped at Auckland Int'l Airport. This was where the trip ended quite unhappy. my 2nd sis was tripped by my 3rd sis at the toilet and ended up w a bleeding arm. din c wat happened, only dat she returned crying. haiz...
had to rush off to buy some guaze and anitseptic cream (amazed dat the whole airport had only ONE single STALL dat sold such stuff, which was w/o guaze too) so had to make w disinfecting the wound and civering w a pc of tissue paper.
i guess my 3rd sis was feeling quite bad over the incident (imagine my 2nd sis crying and scolding her...) dat she turned green and sick. i understand dat kind of feeling, those kind when u accidentally hurt somebody and felt v bad deep down, esp when the person u hurt was confirmed v pissed off w u. i'd lapse into dat kind of sickly state too.
then on board, there was some kind of mix-up w our lunch. the attitude of the flight attendant was rather bad, and the istanbul-aka-muslim guy beside me was super irritating. he was big (not fat, but v big proportionately, ie giant) and took up part of my space.
he took things w/o asking, and was super unhygenic. but well, i pity dat he had to take more than 20 hrs of flight... hoho... i hope he wun die from boredom there.
then we reached home and slept. okok... ate 1st then slept. no... ate, went online, then slept. till now. woohoo!!!

then on board, there was some kind of mix-up w our lunch. the attitude of the flight attendant was rather bad, and the istanbul-aka-muslim guy beside me was super irritating. he was big (not fat, but v big proportionately, ie giant) and took up part of my space.
he took things w/o asking, and was super unhygenic. but well, i pity dat he had to take more than 20 hrs of flight... hoho... i hope he wun die from boredom there.
then we reached home and slept. okok... ate 1st then slept. no... ate, went online, then slept. till now. woohoo!!!

Fox Glacier
wahaha!!!
who'd haf tot dat there's inet connection in dis ulu sembawang place?! basically, the population here is a little over 60, ++ a few tourists.
juz went on a mini-walk to c glow worms. but they're not worms actually, but flies. interesting, cos they really glow like a lite stick (i mean the luminosity, not their size & shape...).
so for the day, we left Queenstown for Fox Glacier, spending 7 hrs on the journey. we stopped over at little towns set in the middle of nowheres...
but little as they r, they're v scenic. imagine retiring in a home smack rite between two mountain ranges, w LOTR like beech-tree forest lining the mountains, topped w white sparkling snow. yummie =)
dat was the town of Morakora (will check the spelling w the viewcam when i get home...)
mrs jone's fruit store was also at the foot of the mountain, w sprawling orchard and fields behind her stall. the shop lies juz along the highway (onli 2 lanes, how hi is it in s'pore standards??), w tall dunno-wat trees lining the other side. so... it was like... wow!!! (okok... limited vocab, so dunno how to describe...)
went to Lake Wanaka, also rather beautiful. hmmm... by dis time, we've seen endless lakes, so i'm actually getting rather bored; they no longer fascinates me. we passed by its little bro Lake Dunstan too.
we crossed the mountains (yet again...) thru Haast Pass, which was a truss bridge above a v fierce looking river. okok... the river's not big (20m wide at most...), but deep, but it still looked rapid to me. the guide told us dat the big boulders in the middle of the river were brought there during the last great flood after a storm dat washed away the original bridge. hmmm... were those boulders? they seem like solid hses to me...
the Fox Glacier's on the w coast of NZ, so we went along the coastline near the end of our journey. the sea (Tasman Sea) well, looked wide and torrentious to me. hehe... i wun c the difference between sea and ocean aniwaes...
but well, there's no beach so to speak, so all we did was to take pictures behind the rocks...
the glacier, well, wasn't dat fascinating. for one, it has retreated quite a bit, also, it's deep inside s.t it takes 1 hr hike to b able to get real up close w the glacier (we can't get ONTO the glacier, cos we haf no pro guide). i stopped halfway when i got a rather decent view of the glacier.
hmmm... more fascinating was the gorge/canyon/cliff (wateva they were...) dat was left by the cutting ice. i mean, it was quite remarkable dat they left such deep gorges. i spent quite some time contemplating the process. hmmm...
came here to dis town, called Fox Town. quite small, i suppose i've walked 70% of the place, w the others too remote & pte bah... haha... dinner was supposed to b 'fine dining'. but how do u expect a whole gp of cheena s'poreans to act hi-cls??? most of the time was spent exclaiming and discussing the state the ang mohs haf turned normal food into...
hee... so now i'm using the inet, maebe play pool after dis. but other than dat, there's nothing much in dis town to do. the shops were oredi closed 2 hrs ago at 7pm...
okok... nothing much. cos tours r basically spent on the coach. the LOTR scenery was breathtaking. i vow to retire in the mountains of NZ, u noe... i'll climb a peak everyday. they're not like Mt Everest, so i can juz spend a wk conquering 1 peak and then trek along the ridge to the other. haha...
and then scream love declarations at the highest pt of the ridge... woohoo!!! my old partner will b so touched and happy she'd die on the spot. hmmm... her body will take a few days to b found tho...
and i'll adopt some kids and chase after them in the rolling plains. they'd meh-meh me and i'll slaughter them when i've caught them. but i dun like mutton, so they'd b for the restaurant i tend to dat dig into tourists' pockets.
ahaha... shall pause here tonite. muz go check nus e-mail again, tho i doubt i'll b able to get into it down here, which basically seem to use the same system. haiz... i mailed the tutor re my sem4 study, but no reply leh. tmr's the deadline for tut #1. hmmm... arggghhhh!!!!!!!

The Place Fit For The Queen (& For zenov of zenovia!)
The moon hangs high and bright above the waters of Lake Wakatipu, against the backdrop of the Southern Alps. All these, in full display before Mighty zenov.
hehe... me in Queenstown, in some ulu sama place in south-western part of the south island of NZ. wow!!! it has been a journey of unseen (but awesome) sights for me, in the land of Middle Earth.
Landed in Auckland for a domestic transfer to Christchurch, where we started the tour w a late afternoon tour at the city centre. Cathedral Sq, botanical gardens... i tell u, even tho it was juz a place for plants, the scenery offered is definitely better than back in lion city.
2nd day, headed straight off to Queenstown via Mt Cook. unfortunately, a fog came up and blocked the view to Mt Cook.
Queenstown is a settlement beside the lake nestled in the mountains. the real state is real ex. well, cos it's winter time (tho no snow yet), the night scene felt like a town ripped from a x'mas fairytale. yep... felt like the enchanted woods.
today, went to Milford Sound, tho it's supposed to b a fiord. however, it rained and obscured quite some of the scenery. taking film on the rocky cruise was fun but tough. ended up all wet, but happy. =D i felt like i was in The Red Badge of Courage. woohoo!!!
cos the fiord is v remote, had to cross the mountain range.the climbing into the hts where there' snow... hehe... not dat much, but enuf to make me stare in awe.
the view is stunning. shall post up the footage when i get home.
actually, winter here is not dat cold, partly cos it's only the start. the coldness comes from windchill. very chilly. arrggghhh!!!
okok... i'm actually using the inet terminal in the hotel (Rydges) which charges by the min. v ex also. 10 mites for $2. so... almighty me is signing off. not cos it's ex, but i'm running out of coins.
hee... i'll come back online when i can find the time. =) definitely not tmr, cos we'll b staying at an even more ulu sama place (pop: 60), a town beside fox glacier.
till then, it's zenov reporting from the southern hemisphere. lol

Prep For Flight
will be setting off for the 2020 flight tmr, on NZ82, transit at Auckland for NZ 537 to Christchurch. this will b retraced on NZ 506 & NZ 81 for the return trip.
prep has neva been so troublesome, in the midst of minor-exam-period, transition between term 3 & term 4...
sent an e-mail juz now to the tutor cos i will not b present for the tutorial registration next wk + submission of Assignment 1, tho if it's online submission, i mite b able to do it overseas. but well, i'm supposed to b relaxing.
yup, realized dat going for a holiday trip (be it overseas or over-canal to sentosa...) is a paradox, or maebe. cos it's so stressed up when the objective was to unwind. i dun mean the prep part, but the actual trip itself. if taking tour, it will mean rushing abt to mit schedules. and free & easy isn't easy at all, cos it's all alone out there (free & easy, i suppose, is actually an overseas lesson, not 'holiday').
i suppose dis is all part of causality, u noe, cause & effect. w/o the stress, how will i learn to enjoy the relaxation part? juz dat prep for a trip juz meant being even MORE stressed up, i suppose.
last min prep for everything. haiz...
aniwaes, jan: can onli gif u a definite ans after i return, cos i haf no time to settle stuff (wat w timetables & catching up of lects...) too far into the future. besides, it's also rather costly. however, if u can get someone to pay w UOB credit card (10%, b4 30 Jun), my chances of agreeing will increase =P oh yar... of cos muz go bor toto/4D lah...
no lar... basically muz sort out my finances 1st b4 i can gif a definite ans. really.
in the meantime, it's holidays for u guys from me, my rantings & ... rantings. tho if i haf the chance, i'll go online. arggghhh... the last time i was away from inet and technology was last yr in brunei... i dunno how i can survive the days w/o inet... =S
actually, i oso suspect my increased stress has got to do w the pills i'm taking to enhance my workout. hehe... i find myself too lazy, so decided to take some shortcuts by taking supplements. the effects were fast, i began to feel v warm (increased metabolism) and lost cravings for food. my endurance also increased (which leads to me getting even lazier...). lol but i guess the increased alertness also caused me to get more worked up/enthu over things, which can explain y i actually got myself dis involved in the prep...
24 hrs b4 set off, my bag is oredi half packed... v rare leh...
aniwaes, i tink my increased metabolic rate will b gd for the cold weather there also... so i wun feel cold (as if i feel cold v easily... wat w my natural-born insulating layer of blubber).
oh... today's last paper. v tricky, but heng open-bk (tho i dun find the note useful for some... ok, a lot, of qns...). but i still finished faster than the guy on my left. hehe... but no time at all to check. lotsa brain cells killed. it felt like genes & soc, but i hope i can get B+ like G&S too...
okok... time to go do other stuff. make reminders of stuff to do when i return.

Prep for NZ
yup, i'm going NZ dis sat evening. frens r welcome to jio me out b4 dat b4 i go off, tho i'd prefer to sleep at home (to make up for the overnite flight). will post the flight details later for keen frens to buy 4d/toto etc, most imptly to look out for any #%&^*&* in the news.
aniwaes, prep for the trip was v irritating. it was unlike the previous trips, partly cos we'll b going during winter time. which means we hafta prepare winter clothings and such, while having no knowledge abt dat.
so, my sis became in-charge, u noe, like typical bossy women (hmmm... a bit redundant; all women r bossy aniwaes). and considering how unreliable info from women can be (they tink they noe, they tink wat they'd heard is true, they tink their instincts r superb...), i find it v hard to accept her instructions.
so conflicts arose.
somehow, they haf been overly worried. for me, it'll b juz to get the necessary stuff. no use worrying abt losing the baggage or wat. cos if it's gonna go missing, it's gonna go missing and there's nothing we can do abt it.
and take for packing stuff for eg. i decided to use my adidas bag, which i've used for yrs and noe how much stuff it can take. but my sis's instinct told her it wun b enuf & she kept bugging me to switch bags. u noe, i'm a rational scientist (a.k.a Man), and i believe dat the bag will onli b deemed unusable until it has been PROVED unusable. the fact is: i haven't even start packing.
so i told her: wait till i pack then c! if cannot, we still haf so many travel bags in the hse wat!
c? dat's the essence. we haf so many bags in the hse (given by travel agents from previous trips), so dat means we haf back up. so y worry? we shd b worrying abt wt, not qty. wat's the use when u haf an ultra big bag and u can't even lift it off the ground? wat's the use of bringing everything for the 'juz in case' and end up paying xtra cos the things exceed 20kg??
women tink they're particular, and i agree. they're juz particular at the wrong stuff, the stuff dat dun matter... (okok... the stuff does matters, but they're insignificant, dat's all...)
